Fingers is a hard rocking, music loving, Harley riding, wise ass psychoanalyzing, story telling radio personality who lived on Long Island New York. Currently living in North Carolina.
Born in Brooklyn and Vaccinated with a phonograph needle he knew he was destined for radio and TV even though he went to school for carpentry. Growing up on Ed Sullivan, Johnny Carson, Midnight Special and Evel Knievel his passion for music motorcycles and entertaining developed as he turned friends on to music and entertain them with jokes and stories. He lands his first job at 14 with Catholic Charities where he learns of earning and giving back. After a run of jobs including gas pumper, Grocery stocker and a stint at White Castle he gets a job as a roadie and light man for the local band White Fire. It is here he is bestowed with the name Fingers.
After a few years of that he leaves to DJ in night clubs starting at Beggars Opera in Queens, NY. It is during this time he goes to school to learn more about radio and even attends a seminar on being a game show host. After a friend called and said "Hey WBAB (the number one rock station on Long Island) is looking for someone to drive their van" He applies for the gig and gets it on March 15th 1982. He worked there until December of 2021! Fingers handled afternoon drive duties and produces and hosts the historic "Fingers Metal Shop" show where he has interviewed everyone from Ozzy to Robert Plant and Metallica.
In high school he leamed how to ride a motorcycle on a Honda 90. In 2001 he bought his first Harley Davidson and began developing his idea for a motorcycle community online at shortscoots.com. Shortly after he shipped his bike out to California then flew out and deejayed an old friends wedding in Malibu and rode back to New York. Journaling and taking pictures and video along the way. The account of that trip is now on his site
Fingers uses his bike to free himself of daily life stress' as well as to help the community. He hosts two bike runs a year and attends many others. His New Year's Day Cold Finger Run is a LI favorite that has gone on in 30 degree days as well as a fluke 62 degree day anomaly that brought close to 4000 attendees and their bikes. All the proceeds went to the American Cancer Societies and Kid's Need More Camp Adventure program where they send kids dealing with cancer just be kids for a while. He also hosts The Sticky Finger Run. A summer run that benefited the Fortunato Breast Health Center at Mather Hospital and the Stony Brook Breast Health Center.
Fingers feels attending and or hosting charity functions helping raise awareness and money is his way of giving back and make sure his two children understand the importance of everyone involvement. Besides rocking out, rolling down the highway and working he feels his greatest gift and assets are his two girls and he thanks God for his life everyday.
